Switching From A Right To Left-Handed Mouse

Your mouse has primary and secondary buttons. You use the primary mouse button—usually the left button—to select and click items and drag items. You use the secondary mouse button—usually the right button—to display a menu of tasks or options that change depending on where you click. If you're left–handed, you can reverse the buttons and use the right mouse button as the primary button.

In this trick I will show you how to switch from right to left-handed mouse, how to control pointer speed and how to set up snap to and pointer trail.

Switch from Right to Left-Hand Clicking

1. In the Control Panel’s User Accounts and Family Safetycategory; click Hardware and Sound.

2. Under Devices and Printers, click the Mouse link.

3. Click the Buttons tab and select the check box labeled Switch Primary and Secondary Buttons to change the left button to perform actions typically performed by a right-click.

4. Now click OK.

Change Double-click Speed and Motion Setting

1. In the Control Panel’s User Accounts and Family Safetycategory; click Hardware and Sound.

2. Under Devices and Printers, click the Mouse link.

3. On the Buttons tab, drag the slider in the Double-Click Speed category to set the speed at which you want to double-click your mouse to initiate an action.

 

4. Click the Pointer Options tab.

 

5. Drag the slider in the Motion setting section to adjust how fast or slow the pointer moves on your screen in response to mouse movements.

6. Click OK to apply changes. 

Set Up Snap To and Pointer Trails

 1. In the Control Panel’s User Accounts and Family Safetycategory; click Hardware and Sound.

2. Under Devices and Printers, click the Mouse link.

3. On the “Pointer Options tab”, select the Snap To check box to move the pointer to the default choice in dialog boxes.

 

4. Select the Display Pointer Trails check box and then use the slider to select long or short mouse pointer trails.

5. Click Apply and OK.
