Convert, Resize and Cut videos with VLC Media Player

VLC is a free and open source media player. It is an extremely useful application for watching, streaming, and recording audio and video, that’s why VLC MediaPlayeris the world’s most popular video player. You can also use VLC media player to Convert, Resize and Cut videos.

Convert Videos with VLC Media Player

To convert videos with VLC media player, follow the steps given below:-

1.  Open VLC media player.

2. Click Media menu from the menubar or press Ctrl+R shortcut from keyboard to open the media options and then choose Convert/Save from the dropdown menu. 

3. Click on the Add button on the right of the File selection box to load the video whose format you want to change and then click covert/save.

4. Now from the profile selection option, click on the Settings icon to select encapsulation, video and audio formats and then click save.

5. Click on browse to select the destination where you want to save your converted video.

6. Click on Start to begin conversion.

7. Do not close the VLC player when it is converting videos as it will result in output video getting corrupted.

Steps to resize and shrink video using VLC media player

1. To resize and shrink a video with VLC you need to follow steps 1-3.

2. Now from the profile selection option, click on settings icon.

3. Now switch to video codec tab and go to scale section and here enter your desired Height and wide of video as your needs and then click save. 

4. Finally click on Start to convert the video.

Steps to cut video using VLC media player

To cut a video you need to follow the steps as given below:-

1.  Open VLC media player.

2. Click on view and then Advance control to active advance control menu.

3. After that you will see four extra buttons are added above the normal play/pause button i.e. Record, Take a snapshot, Loop from point A to point B, Frame by Frame. We will use Record button to cut the video.

4. Now play the video and press the record button at the point where you want to start and again press the record button at that point where you want to stop.

5. Now your video will be cut and the cut video will saved at my documents/ my videos.
