Show or Hide Recycle bin on the desktop
The Recycle Bin usually appears on the desktop. It is possible to hide the Recycle Bin so that it does not appear on the desktop. This tricks help you to show or hide Recycle bin on the desktop. Just follow these simple steps.
For Windows XP:
1. Press win+R shortcut from keyboard to open Run dialog box.
2. Type gpedit.msc in the Run dialog box and press enter.
3. Navigate to:
User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Desktop
4. On the right hand Pane, find "Remove Recycle Bin icon from desktop", double click on it to ENABLE it.
For Windows 7 and 8:
1. Click the Start button, type desktop icons into the search box, and then click Show or hide common icons on the desktop.
2. In the Desktop Icon Settings dialog box, do one of the following:
To hide the Recycle Bin, clear the Recycle Bin check box.
To show the Recycle Bin, select the Recycle Bin check box.
3. Click OK to apply the changes.
Note: Even when the Recycle Bin is hidden, deleted files are still stored there temporarily until you choose to permanently delete them or recover them.
