How to Change the Way the Power Button Behaves in Windows 7?

Here is the tricks that you can use to Choose What the Power Button Do when you press the power button or close the computer’s lid. You can specify either Sleep, Hibernate, Shut Down, or Do Nothing, which prevents people from turning off your PC with the power button.

1. Go to Control Panel, and under System and Security category select “Power Options”.

2. In the left-side panel, click on “Choose What the Power Button Do”.

3. Now specify what you want to happen when you press the power button or close the computer’s lid. 

You can specify either Sleep, Hibernate, Shut Down, or Do Nothing, which prevents people from turning off your PC with the power button.

4. Choose an option from the drop-down lists and click the Save Changes button.

5. For extra security, click Require a Password. Now, when your computer wakes from sleep, no one can access your computer without entering the correct password.  

6. Click Save changes to apply the changes.
