How To Resume Broken Download Link In IDM?

IDM is the most widely used download manager because of its capability to download files at a faster rate than any other download manager. But sometimes an error occurs when we try to resume the download.

Suppose you start downloading a video and due to some reason, it fails when downloading reaches more than 50%. That feels very bad. Don’t worry here is the tricks how to resume broken download link in IDM.

Method -1

1. When you try to resume a file in IDM and it fails; you will see a message like this in a new window. It means that the download link associated with it is expired. Click "OK".

2. After that IDM will show the following dialog and will try to open a web page where you found initial download link. If IDM fails to open correct web page, or recognize a download link, open correct web page manually in your browser. Also during this you will see a small waiting box like this;

3. On this page, start downloading the same link again. IDM will detect the new link and start downloading where you left.

Method -2

1. You need to go back to the webpage of the same file that you were downloading.

2. Click the same download link again which was showing ERROR.

3. After download starts, pause it. Double click on this new download file.

4. Copy the link from the "URL" box of new download file.

5. Double click (or, right click>properties) on the file that you are trying to download. In the opened window; paste the copied URL to the "Address" field and click "OK".

6. Now resume the old download that was showing ERROR and it will work.
