How To Change Drive Letter In Windows

When you open the windows explorer or my computer there is a letter ( C:, D:, E:, etc.) in braces after the drive name.Formally, these letters are known as the disk drive letter. If you want to change the drive letter of a hard drive partition, you can reassign. By using Disk Management tool of Windows, you can change the drive letter.

Note: Keep it in mind that the system drive where is the Windows OS installed (commonly the C: dive) won't be changed. The software installed on the drive will stop working. No data will be lost or damage by this action.

1. Right click of computer and click on manage.














2. Manage window will open. From the left Pane select the disk management under storage from the left pane.















Alternatively type diskmgmt.msc in the run and pressing enter to get the Disk management.

3. Right click on drive, which is hidden/removed, and select Change Drive Letters and Paths.













4. Now click on Change and then choose a drive letter from the drop-down menu located on the right.


5. A window will pop-up for confirmation and click on Yes to confirm your action on changing the drive letter.







That's it! Close all window. The drive letter will be changed.
